Flavio Santi is an indigenous leader, conserva

tionist and healer from the Amazanga community of Ecuador.  He is the president of the Wanduk Foundation, an indigenous founded and run non-profit dedicated to the protection of the earth and the shamans that carry its healing wisdom.  He is the director of the foundation's natural medicine school, the School of Guayusa, which works directly with reconnection to nature and the sharing of its natural wisdom and healing.

The Amazanga community is an intertribal family of Quicuia and Shuar forest protectors and healers from the northern Amazon.  As healers they have helped to heal people from around the world of chronic physical and emotional illness.  As conservationists they have worked with U.S. based foundations to buy back thousands of acres of rainforest to be protected as natural reserves and safe from the destruction of oil, mining and development interests.  Their largest effort is the Llushin River Rainforest Conservation Project, a reserve of over 5,000 acres of protected jungle that borders the Sangay National Forest.  Whether protecting sacred land from the oil companies through conservation, or organizing protests for the protection of nature and water rights, Flavio Santi is a forest protector in the truest sense.

Formerly the director of the Confederation of Indigenous Nations for the Northern Amazon Region, Flavio has also served as cultural director for Funacion Runa, and president of the nation's Quichua parliament for the Pastaza region.  He is his community's international traveler and representative, and he has brought their message of conservation and healing to engagements throughout Europe and the United States.

Flavio Santi is an ambassador of the forest and the peoples that live most in connection with it.  They believe that reconnecting ourselves with the natural beauty of our planet is the only way to keep from destroying it.  It is Flavio's vision that, through our connection to nature and the earth, we will heal and change the world without violence or death.  Through his travels and his work with the School of Guayusa, Flavio Santi continues to share his people's message of love, nature and the healing powers of our mother earth.
